Anger has always been the worst emotion in my mind. I hear yelling and every flight response in my body is activated. But I don’t think I’ve ever been this angry. It is unfamiliar, as if it is separate from me. As someone who is constantly overwhelmed by her own thoughts and feelings, I turn to what I know is bigger, stronger, and wiser than me: God. I twist and turn this anger in my mind until Jesus arrives in my heart. We see the love of Jesus through his actions, prayers, and words. Jesus has been angry. But we recognize God as perfect love. Love precedes anger. When something is held to close to your identity, you fight for it. This is where anger comes into play. If God’s love is righteous, so is His anger. We are not perfect, but we are angry. Jesus does not ask us to do or feel anything that He wouldn’t do. So, take your anger and use it. I’ve learned to gather information, pray, and act. Sometimes we feel it is good enough to establish an opinion and only share it with God. I believe that action rooted in Christ is the most important step to take. Performance belongs to the Pharisees. Remember that Jesus did not only pray for sinners, He dined with them. He healed them. He walked with them, not past them. You are a Christian. Understand your responsibility to yourself, others, and most importantly God. Understand that you are called to walk with everyone, especially those struck by tainted power.

This is a human rights issue. Do not sit and wait. Those that do gamble with the glorification of the Father. Ephesians tells us to put on the armor of God. Your armor is your head and your heart. If you shy away from the conversation now, you will ignore moments of God working in you and through you. So, allow yourself to feel anger. Place precedent on God’s word and what you know to be just, not on the thoughts you believe to be right. Ask God to help you, for we know He will. The golden rule may sound basic, but it is golden for a reason. This call to action may be harrowing, but no one says Christianity is easy. Use this time to show others why it matters.
