I am a strong believer in general revelation. To me, general revelation means that we can see evidence of God in everything He created. When I look around at this beautiful world that He created for His people, I see evidence of Him all over. I also understand the Bible to be straightforward and so everything it says I take literally. When God says that we are the only creation designed in His image, that bears a lot of weight. When I look around at everyone, believer or non believer, I see God and evidence of His creativity in designing us all. It is so easy for us to be insecure about something especially even if we know we are made by Him in His image. Personally, I used to be so insecure about my scars. I still sometimes struggle with that. I have come to realize that it is crazy to think because our Savior had scars! Jesus was nailed to a cross yet one of the coolest stories in the Bible is how after He rose from the grave He was able to show His disciples the scars He had. I am fearfully and wonderfully made in His image and He had scars! Another reason He created us uniquely, with what we might see as flaws, is because He doesn’t want us to look the same. We serve such a creative God and He designed us all so uniquely. Just like the snowflakes look vastly different than each other, how much more does He set apart the only creation He says is made in His image? Knowing that I am made in Christ’s image helps me to see myself better and it helps me to see others in a new, better light as well. On the sixth day of creating, Genesis says “God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.” In this, He is talking about the humans He created, Adam and Eve! From reading this, I see that God created women for a purpose and reason, and He said that humanity and women are “very good”! Remembering that you and I were created in God’s image just as much as the next person is, helps me to stay humble and more grateful to the Creator for just how special He designed and created you and me!
