Hi Sisters! I want to talk to you about something that is so vital to us as Christians, the Holy Spirit!
Last week during Spiritual Emphasis Week, I was constantly surrounded by amazing leaders to look up to. I witnessed them boldly proclaim their faith, and I admired how much I saw the Holy Spirit spill out of them. As I was inspired by these people, I was surprised when a few girls came up to me and said, “Bella, you inspire us. We wish we were more bold and could share our faith like you do”. As soon as they told me this, God put an idea in my mind: we all have the power of the Holy Spirit within us!
I think of the Holy Spirit as my conscience. He gives gentle nudges in my heart, however it can be hard to hear or feel Him at times. When we become a Christians, the Holy Spirit enters our hearts and our lives change. This is a huge life change that not many people think is a big deal, but it’s the most important decision you will make, so we should not take it lightly.
As a little girl, I had no idea the power the Spirit has, but as I have gotten older and have seen God’s Spirit in my own life I have seen the power and WOW! GOD'S SPIRIT IS IN US! This blows my mind all the time!
In Acts 2, the disciples were all hanging out and out of nowhere a “mighty rushing wind” came upon them and tongues of fire rested upon each one of the disciples! This was the Holy Spirit! After this, all the disciples started speaking in different languages and people were so confused they thought the disciples were drunk! They weren’t drunk, the Spirit was ALIVE and AT WORK in each one of them. The disciples were a little freaked out of what God trusted them with but Peter reassured them that God wanted this to happen. They started sharing the Gospel with all these people and on that day, three thousand people became followers of Jesus! SO COOL!
After this, they went into a season full of gratitude and thanksgiving. They ate together, served today and furthered the Kingdom of Heaven together because they had something in common: Jesus!
I read this and think, wow, that same power the disciples had is in you and me! God gives us so many GOOD GIFTS and the Holy Spirit is the greatest gift of all, and sometimes I forget that. God didn’t need His Spirit to be in us, He desired it because He delights in us and loves us! None of us are perfect and having the Spirit dwell within us doesn’t make us perfect. Because of the Spirit we become part of the family. We become daughters of the King and heirs to His royalty, not because of anything we did, but all because of Him- it’s a free gift!
But because the Spirit is with you, we have to be attentive and open to what He is telling us. Maybe it’s through a beautiful sunset on your drive home or helping you find your favorite shirt from your messy room. Maybe it’s being able to help your friend with a problem or getting a prayer answered. Maybe it’s having enough courage to go pray over someone. Or maybe, it’s as simple as reading your Bible and praying. The more you engage with the Spirit on a daily basis, the easier it is to hear Him and recognize and appreciate all the good gifts He has given you.
KEEP IN STEP WITH HIM sweet sisters! He has filled each and every one of you and has given us all the same power and chance to make a change in this world for His kingdom.
